Tycoon Tea Vichet, General Manager of GTVC Import Export, said the company had been granted the right to invest in the Sihanoukville tourist port, which covers an area of about 22,000 square metres with 20 moorages for small and large tourist boats at the same time.
He added that this port is a safe port, fully qualified, suitable as a potential port for Sihanoukville to receive tourists from all countries with entertainment venues in the Sihanoukville area with 225 staff with modern tourism services.
Provincial governor Kouch Chamroeun praised the opening of Sihanoukville tourist port, revealing investors’ confidence in the government. The port provides employment and contributes to improving the living standards and reducing poverty in accordance with the policy and strategy of the fourth phase of the government.
The minister emphasised that the operation of this tourist port is an important investment as it provides security, job opportunities, and attracts national and international tourists.
He said that “cultural and nature tourism” is an important priority sector in promoting Cambodia’s economic growth and social development, requiring infrastructure improvements.
Cambodia’s tourism sector has proudly grown as a “green gold” project, and it plays a key role in boosting the national economy by increasing national income as well as creating jobs and improving people’s lives.
