Shangdong Air expands to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: China’s Shandong Airlines is planning to launch direct flights between Shandong province and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Cambodia’s State Secretariat for Civil Aviation spokesman, Sin Chansereyvutha, told local media that the flights are pending approval from the SSCA.
If approval is granted in time, the airline will link the provincial capital of Jinan to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap with a twice-weekly service starting 15 September.t will be the ninth Chinese carrier to operate flights to Cambodia, following Xiamen Airlines that introduced services in June.
“The relationship between China and Cambodia is very close and the increase in flights is part of this cooperation,” the spokesperson said.
Shandong Airlines is based in the Shandong Airlines Centre in Jinan, Shandong, China. It operates mainly domestic routes from Jinan, Qingdao and Yantai to major cities in China and is owned by Air China.
During the first half of this year, 275,030 Chinese travelled to Cambodia, an increase of 19.1% year-on-year, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism’s statistics and tourist Information Department.
