Phnom Pros Phnom Srey is a resort located in Trapeang Char, Krala Commune, Kampong Siem District, Kampong Cham Province, 7 km from Kampong Cham provincial town and 114 km from Phnom Penh.

If we travel from Phnom Penh to Kampong Cham on National Road 7 to the 116th kilometer and look to the northeast, which is about 1 km from the national road, we will see two mountains. Simultaneously, one high in the east, one high in the west, a high mountain named Phnom Srey, and a low mountain named Phnom Pros.

The legend of this mountain is as follows:

In ancient times, there was a queen named Ayutthaya who reigned in the Khmer kingdom. Since the princess is the king, no man dares to get married. Therefore, the princess is looking for a beautiful man to be her husband, and since the queen of Ayutthaya is engaged to be her husband, the women under her advice are also engaged to be her husband.

During that reign, it was miserable for some women who had a bad image to get engaged to men. Do this for the rest of this queen. When the next king came, the women of the church said to each other, “Now it is not right for us to be women and to be engaged to men as husbands. Men raise the ground to be a mountain, we girls become a mountain, bet on each other.

“If men lose, we have to let men get engaged to us as women.” With that in mind, they went to ask the men to make a mountain and make a bet. Girls walk around. When all the men and women had gathered, they said to one another, “We have to move the land until the morning star rises, and then we all stop.” If the morning star does not rise, do not stop.

Thinking together, so they transport the land according to their respective energies.

At that time, at night, the wise women, carrying the land for a few hours, set up a small lantern high in the northeast corner of the mountain. The men looked up and saw a lantern that the woman was blowing and a bamboo tree, thinking that the morning star was rising, so they stopped working and went to sleep, leaving no one behind. The women continued to carry the land until the morning star really stopped. When the rooster crows, the men wake up to see the morning star and say, “We are all wrong. The real morning star has just risen. ” And let’s look at Phnom Srey, which is taller than its own mountain, and feel ashamed of losing to women. From then on, men engaged women to be their wives to this day.
