Speaking to local news on July 29, Sin Chanserivatha, Undersecretary of State and Spokesman for Civil Aviation, confirmed that during the 10-day test run, the new airport will allow non-profit aircraft to land, such as VIP aircraft, training aircraft for new pilots, technical test flights, and so on.
A senior aviation official made the remarks after users of social media and the media reported that during the trial run of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport between October 5 and 15, free travel would be provided.
“Those 10 days are for non-profit landings, but we do not offer free flights to passengers,” he said. “Therefore, please do not confuse the public with some interpretations from social media and the media.”
According to the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation, all commercial flights of air passengers and cargo that are being operated at the current Siem Reap International Airport will be transferred entirely and one time only to the new airport from 00:00 am (local time) on Oct. 16, 2023.
