What to expect
Go on a fun adventure on this one-day tour of Siem Reap that takes you to some of the temples furthest from the city, Koh Ker and Beng Mealea. Choose between a join in or a private tour depending on your personal preference. On the day of the tour, start off with a pick up at your hotel, immediately followed by departure to the first stop of the tour, Beng Mealea Temple. Located a couple of hours northeast of Siem Reap, it is one of the most mysterious temples as it has been consumed by the jungle. However, some of the dense forest has been cut back, allowing visitors to explore it and see chiseled sandstone blocks, impressive wall carvings and maybe even a peek at the well-preserved library of the collapsed central tower. You’ll then make your way to Koh Ker, a complex of temples abandoned to the forests of the north that was once the capital of the Angkorian empire from AD 928 to AD 944. Walk around and inspect the detailed stone carvings, doorposts and slender window columns of Prasat Krahom and climb the stairs of Prasat Thom for a spectacular view of the entire area. Reenergize yourself after half a day’s worth of travel and exploration with a lunch at your own expense, where you can enjoy a variety of traditional Cambodian cuisine, right before you head back to your hotel.
