Travel industry leaders from Qantas, Jumeirah and SITA, amongst others, have praised Dubai and the UAE on its successful Expo 2020 bid.
Following the announcement made last night in Paris, the travel industry have shared their congratulations and thanks to the nation on its achievement in being named the host city for 2020.
SITA president Middle East, India and Aftica Hani El-Assaad – a provider of IT and telecommunication services to the air transport industry – said: “SITA congratulates Dubai and the UAE on their successful bid to host Expo 2020, a sensational achievement for both the nation and the region.
“As the IT provider to the air transport industry we look forward to collaborating with the region’s airlines and airports to manage the millions of extra passengers flying to Dubai for the Expo and to help provide great passenger experiences,” El Assaad added.
Qantas Middle East & North Africa regional general manager Rohan Garnett said Expo 2020 would be a great opportunity to promote the UAE as a both a business and travel hub.
“Qantas congratulates the UAE on their winning bid to host Expo 2020. It is testament to their ongoing commitment to develop the region for economic development and trade,” Garnett noted.
“This win is a huge milestone for the country and will act as a catalyst for global collaboration across a number of sectors including aviation. As an international airline with a strong partnership with Emirates, Qantas is pleased to carry visitors to the region and promote destination Dubai to the world.”
The region’s hoteliers joined in congratulating the bid success.
