Cambodia has overcome technical challenges in hosting 32nd SEA Games mountain bike and road bike categories in Siem Reap and drawn new experience to further improve the sports.
Mr. Nou Chamroeun, Secretary General of Cambodian Cycling Federation (CCF) shared the reflection in a recent media interview, following the conclusion of the games in Cambodia.
Though the racing was organised in remote areas making it challenging for material transport and organisation, CCF worked hard to handle it through the support from Cambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC) and the International Sports Federation, he said.
In preparation for the SEA Games, CCF in collaboration with provincial administrations kickstarted a Cycling for All campaign under the theme of One Citizen One Bike.
Cambodian athletes, he added, trained hard, yet there are some areas we can build on to get better result for further tournaments, using new experiences gained from the SEA Games.
Siem Reap hosted SEA Games mountain bike and road bike categories from May 6 to 13.
For the mountain bike, Indonesian athletes bagged gold medals from the five disciplines under the sport category, while Cambodian athlete Mr. Khem Menglong won one silver and one bronze medals.
For the road bike category of four disciplines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia won two, one, and one gold medals respectively. Article in Khmer by Heng Nalin Article in English by Lim Nary
