Cambodia’s Kep province on Aug. 7 kick-started the Kep Tourism Development Master Plan 2023-2035 designed to transform the province into a high-quality luxury tourist destination regionally and globally. Tourism Minister H.E. Thong Khon chaired the launch of the master plan with a call for concerned players to develop Kep on the principles of sustainability, safety, quality, competitiveness, and smart tourism. H.E. Ny Phally, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Tourism and Chairman of the Secretariat of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the Development of Kep Tourism Development Master Plan, explained that the master plan targeted four tourism development poles.

They are: the old Kep city to be developed into a world-class luxury park city, Agkol area to become a modern natural beach resort, Phnom Vor to be agro, natural and historical resort, and the province’s archipelago to be luxury island tourism destination. Crab market, Kep beach, Por Heng dam, Kep national park, mangrove forest, salt farms, Mountainous areas, pepper and durian plantations, and islands will be among the priorities in the development.

The master plan also outlines needful human resource development, a tourism marketing and promotion strategy, and the establishment of a coastal tourism innovation centre, which is a collection of knowledge, experiences, and innovation to support tourism development. In order to achieve the vision, it requires the participation and support of all stakeholders, as well as the public at large. H.E. Som Piseth, Governor of Kep Province, highly valued the master plan and pledged his full support for its rollout.
