Koh Pdao is an island located in Kratie province in the Northeast of Cambodia, was created by CRDT in 2007. (Cambodian Rural Development Team).
The Mekong River’s resident fresh water dolphins at Koh Pdao are well-known. Irrawaddy dolphins can be seen swimming alongside boats on the Mekong River as tourists take in the stunning environment,the main draw of the province of Kratie and the ecotourism destination of Koh Pdao. Beautiful sunsets in the evening will convert the river into a golden flag. Also, visitors can support local communities by helping with projects like farming, erecting chicken and duck enclosures, digging fish and ponds, etc.
Along National Roads Numbers 6 and 7, you can take a taxi, minivan, or bus from Phnom Penh to Kratie Town. Kratie Town is located about 40 kilometers from Koh Pdao. A slow boat down the Mekong River will take you there in another 20 to 30 minutes after a 45-minute drive from Kratie Town in a taxi or motor taxi.
In addition, Kratie offers stunning sunsets, an intriguing Mekong River landscape, and a pleasant river beach during the dry season. Visitors can learn about the way of life of traditional Khmers, take in traditional dance performances, and even make some native cuisine. In addition, students have the option of going on a boat tour or going on a stroll through the hamlet or the jungle. Also, there is the chance to take part in project activities like building chicken and duck enclosures and fish ponds, farming tasks, coaching young athletes in sports like football or volleyball, or teaching English to kids.
