Phnom Penh, June 12th, 2023 —
The 12th ASEAN Para Games (APG), held from June 3 to 9 under the motto of “Sport: Live in Peace” has reflected the spirit of what Cambodia managed to do with confidence for our future.
The remark was made by H.E. Hun Many, Representative of the 12th APG Organising Committee, at the official closing ceremony of the 12th APG, held here at the Morodok Techo National Museum this evening.
H.E. Hun Many, also President of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia, expressed thanks to all stakeholders like ASEAN Para Sports Federation (APSF), National Paralympic Committees of the participating counties, national and internal technical teams, competent authorities, volunteers, and the Cambodian people as a whole for their sacrifices and endless efforts to contribute to successfully and smoothly hosting the 12th APG, recalling “Success and all achievements are for all Cambodian citizens,” a statement of Prime Minster Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
He attributed the proudly successful host of the historic and solemn 32nd SEA Games last month and the 12th APG to current full peace, Win-Win Policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and the well preparation though Cambodia’s economy has received negative impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, uncertainty of global economy and geopolitical rivalry.
Taking the opportunity, H.E. Hun Many thanked the Government and people of China for its grant aid for the construction of US$150-million-worth Morodok Techo National Stadium and for technical support for the Official Opening and Closing ceremonies of the above-mentioned regional games and para games.
He reiterated the achievement to the spirit of “Cambodia can do it”, and called for remembering as it was a core value that should be proud of what Cambodia has attained to energetically and actively move forwards with self-confidence and trust for the future of the our beloved country and people.
He continued that the regional games have concluded, but memories remain in our hearts in the spirit of “Beyond the Games”, and took the chance to share his congratulations to all para medalists, by reminding those who have failed to grab the medals to keep their spirits, willingness and self-confidence as they have won the heart and given a role model for us through their all efforts.
H.E. Hun Many finally wished all participating sports delegates and para athletes to return to their home countries with good memories merging from friendship, smiles and wholehearted attitudes of Cambodian people, saying “Dear all para athletes, we are proud of you, and know that each and every one of you have made your country proud.”
